Know where you're comin from. As we often say, we're so glad we're not raising kids today w/ the world as it is.
Was manager of up to 45 personnel during Navy and DOD years. Even then was stressful being sure not to, let alone not to "appear" to, discriminate. The below par employees knew the only way they could hang on or be promoted was to trump up phony charges. Seemed like I was appearing and giving testimony in grievances all the time. Never lost...but give em credit, they kept on tryin.
Then about 7 years before retirement had the opportunity to make a lateral pay grade move w/o being a manager or supervisor. Jumped at it. Those last years were the greatest. Enjoyed goin in each day. Was able to "work hard and play hard" just like the Army days. Reputation and knowledge of the system allowed me to get away w/ most anything. Lots of stories, but not for here. Had it not been for dads deteriorating health, and needing me daily might still be there yukin it up all day every day. I harassed em all and took no prisoners. No one took offense, even tho I was esp. brutal to civilians that didn't wash their hands after using the latrine!! Bosses boss was a young woman. She'd come in early every morning, coo her pet name for me and proceed to rub my neck and shoulders.
Hope that trip down memory lane cheered you up a bit. Speaking the truth is never easy.
But hey, this is a fishin board...not a chat line, so we need to make this an honest post. Gear ready for surf and sound. Expect grandkids to be a big part of the fishin when they come down. Grandkid girls old enuf now to learn to fish the surf vs. the sound. Talked fishin w/ 2nd son for 4 hours today. He's pumped, as always. Never mentioned the wild boar roaming his suburban street, or the 3 recent alien sightings in his neighborhood. No joke.
