King,
Tho you, I, and the board regulars know about the natural "challenges" found at the Outer Banks, but not in vacation brochures, there may be some who need to know something about sharks.
They are not cute! Do not try to get close enuf to ID them or swim w/ them. Assume any of them will try to eat you!!
Doubt that?? Ask the guy who went swimming in Corolla, only to be found about 35 miles south. Dead of course. Shark bites on body were determined to have been made "before" death, not "after" drowning.
Here's some more Chamber of Commerce stuff:):)
July 2009, Waves, round noontime.
See 2 big sharks, 8-9 ft. swimmin south, about 125 ft. off shore. Species unknown. No binocs. Sharks are about 6 ft. beyond "visitors" furthest out in water. Needless to say...oblivious!!! Maybe the sharks were too??
(And yes, even tho they were "visitors" we did try to warn em...however, of course, they did not respond).
Isn't there an old saying about someone above who watches out for the clueless??
OK, off the pulpit...
