Traveling Virginia to North Carolina.

I think a lot of people will still use the toll because they just want to hurry up and get to the beach. North Carolina could even out the speed limit more along the way, might help with the Saturday summer back up at the bridge. So far there's not much traffic if you avoid the toll and go around beside it at Great Bridge. Wawa gas station is a good rest stop there, get a coffee, let the dog poop in their grass.
I was always told Virginia doesn't like people going to the Outer Banks, they want people to go to Virginia Beach. Seems like it was that way for a long time with the other way Route 17 through the Dismal Swamp. Virginia never would fix their part of the road. It went from a bumpy, narrow winding two lane road with a death toll sign at the entrance to a nice big smooth divided four lane highway when you reached North Carolina. You didn't have to look for the state line sign to know when you got to North Carolina.
