Simply changing the regs such that a boat can catch a certain weight limit instead of a certain number is the solution. I believe the number now is 50 fish a day. If theses boats are throwing back anything under 45pounds the math on 50 45 pounders is 2250. They could change the regs to 2500 lbs. a day. That way they just get their weight quota for the day and not have to waste so much of the resource. I understand these guys are just trying to earn a living and trying to maximize their catch by keeping the big ones. I'll bet the guys hate throwing back so many fish assuming they are anglers off the clock too. Just doing what the boss tells em to you know. I'm pretty sure with enough public outcry these regs will be changed soon.
