Hey Rock,
Yeah it is a Capitalistic society.
And yeah there was a time when I did not have experience.
But I got MY experience from Blood,Sweat and Tears on the back end of a offshore charter boat and the deck of a shrimp trawler starting at age 15.
And No I do not have to like all the new wannbe part time charterboats.....why .....cause i can.
The 3 things that have destroyed the integrity and professionalism in the charter boat industry in NC are as follows
#1 When the Coast Guard dropped the requirement of you having to ACTUALLY WORK on a documented vessel for 365 days over the course of 3 years and the Captains of the documented vessels had to sign your paper work.
Now you get a Self Service Sea Time Paper....which you can basically say "I rowed my kayak in the creek 365 days over the last 3 years"...and your in there....THAT IS BS.....You learn by doing and working for those that did it before YOU
#2 The` state of NC dropped the requirement of having to have a Commercial Fishing Licensees to run a charter boat.
That also helped open the flood gate to the wannbes
#3 Tackle stores booking trips for any Tom,Dick or Harry that has a Capt. License....with absoultly no regard to the customers just so they can collect a "Booking Fee" which now a days is $25 on the 1/2 day and $50 for the full day
So Rock...please don't pee on my back and try to tell me it is rain.I'm 50 years old and have been around the block more than once.
I think I got a clue
