I Found where they were coming in and stuffed the hole with welded wire mesh and spray foam insulation. They tunneled into the crawl space and chewed a 2" hole through the floor. The problem was when I sealed the hole they just started another so I lined all the areas in the crawl space between the joists with welded wire mesh. Then I had to deal with the ones that got inside. That took about 6 months till I got them all rounded up. About $1500 in damages when it was all said and done.

Seemed overnight, the whole back yard was full of tunnels and holes. Had to get out the poison for the ones outside. Apparently, the next door neighbor was also putting out bowls of cat food for any stray cats. That didn't help matters. I think all she was feeding before the rats moved in were a skunk and a family of racoons.

Thinking the Carova house is next. Going to line the garage ceiling with wire mesh. Currituck County just changed the Trash ordinance and I have to build a horse proof trash can enclosure and buy some High quality. So I'll be making a run down here in the near future. If I have time to wet a line, I'll post a report.
