My great grandfather had a farm with a bunch of bee hives in West Virginia. He used a small hand smoker that looked like an oil can.

I think he started new hives by putting some comb in them when the new queens were leaving sometimes he would have to climb the tree.

It wasn't much there mostly farming or coal mining, I think all mine moved to Ohio looking for jobs. My grandfather had joined the army.

One was a tv repairman there but a lot of the people were using a barter system for a payment, couple of bushels of corn, a chicken, ham.

Going to be getting some severe thunderstorms with tornados here today have closed the schools for it should be the first for this spring.
