What species to target in early July?

My family and my brother's family will be coming to OBX (Nags Head) in early July. I know each year is different but what sort of species should I expect to be around this time of year? I enjoy all types of fishing so curious about surf, wading, pier, and kayak fishing. I am trying to get a head start on figuring out what gear I would need to bring. I live in Charleston, SC so I saltwater fish all the time but it has been 5+ years since I was able to fish up that way and I did 100% of my fishing out of a kayak (a lot more fishing than catching ;-).
Any advice is appreciated and sorry if this is one of those annoying type question you guys get all the time.
