I'm all the way up in Carova and the first 3 weeks of October is the best time for drum fishing. I don't think going further south is going to help your pursuit of drum. Now if you're looking for pompano or Spanish, you might want to head south. This time of year, I think its more about finding the holes and using the freshest bait you can get your hands on.
