MRSA - methicillin resistant Staphylococcus aureus. You can have it on your skin and never know it, then bump into something and get an active infection. Had an infected hair follicle on my knee that went bad, had to get it surgically cleaned and then do a course of antibiotic and Hibiclens showers. But it was superficial. If it really gets into you it is very dangerous. I believe most still treatable with some antibiotics (like sulfamethoxazole/trimethoprim). Not sure what the current antibiotic of choice is. Like most bacteria, as time goes on it becomes more resistant to treatment. Sage advice: If in doubt, get it checked out. Earlier the better.
