Re: tomatoes and peppers. Home Depot in KH has a big selection now in white cups 5 for $15.
Also had large tomato plants for $15 if you can't wait and want a fresh tomato before June.
Food Lion has had a bin of Roma tomatoes that are good, people were attacking it like corn.
Re: crabs. It is harder for them to pick it off the necks and that is why they are popular.
The Memorial Day Weekend crabs tend to be not so meaty and watery better during late summer.
If the water is cold in whatever area that early you probably won't catch very many of them.
I would try different places the little bridge going to Colington could be a great spot then.
If you want a good crabbing trip try this one below, the crabs are big and plentiful in there.
Special Events at the Pea Island National Wildlife Refuge
The annual Crabbing Rodeo is held on the second Saturday in June from 9:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. and allows kids of all ages to try hand-lining as many crabs as they can in a friendly, competitive environment. The rewards are a tasty bucket of crabs to take home, and while the event may seem simple enough on the surface, recent years' Crabbing Rodeos have drawn more than 500 attendees. Volunteers are on hand to point out good crabbing spots and to dole out pointers as needed. Free for everyone, (although attendees are responsible for their own drinks, chairs and bug spray), the event is a fun way to get your hands dirty in the local crabbing scene.
