Thanks for the very nice compliment on the board. As to the best place to fish in April and May, anywhere on the beach if the winds are right. Drums have been actively biting. There also have been some good reports from the little Manteo Bridge but this depends on what type of fish you are after, the time of day, etc. Welcome back to the Outer Banks Bill. As to surf rods and reels, hmmm I make do with what I have and when I first started surf fishing and pier fishing, I just went to Walmart and looked at rods for strength or flexibility for the type of fishing I was going to do and I also purchased my rigs, such as double rigs, drum rigs etc. and then it came down to bait, I always carry a good selection of artificial baits such as blood worms, squid, and shrimp and then I keep a fair collection of artificial lures as well. OO I forgot the fresh baits, such as cut up mullets, blues, squid, shrimp and blood worms. On days when fish are not biting so well I just play with my different types of baits and if one starts working then I use it and then mix up things again when the bite slows down. Again, Welcome home. Keeping a tight line. Debbie
