So Very True Spike. When I have been speaking about drum fishing and I mean the big drum I have been pointing to Ocracoke. SSW winds down there are best. Straight SW winds make it sometimes hard to fish on the beach there. Yes north of Rodanthe you need south winds to bring the warmth in but as to fishing from the surf, I use to believe that east winds the fish bite the least and west winds blowing that the fish bite the best from the surf and piers, however I have found this to be totally backwards and have found that in the SUMMER temperatures when warm air is already established on the Outer Banks that the fish bite the best with east winds, and they don't bite so good when the winds are from the west. This is just me. my opinion and I am entitled to it. Keeping a tight line. Debbie
