Just in general winds blowing off the beach causes upwelling and muddy the water, winds blowing off the water clear it if they aren't too strong and tend to be the better days for most people.
Northeast winds in the fall and southeast winds in the spring are good because this brings in the cool and warm water.
The wind also controls which way the current is running either up or down the beach and a change in the current direction can make the fish bite.
The southwest winds will pile the bait up on the south side of the point in Buxton.
