I had picked the blowtoad fishing up from an old timer that spent a lot of time out on the beach surf fishing for them.

I learned a fast way to clean them too from him it's hard to explain, you use a rag to hold the head, regular fillet knife and a thick bladed knife.

Basically take the thick knife and go halfway down and through the backbone then twist the head up while rolling the meat out with the fillet knife.
