Not pretty...but for toothy fish, baitholder hook attached direct to steel leader 6" or more will alleviate cut offs.
Used that set up exclusively in FL in past years.

5" snow overnite on North Coast.

So discouraging, hangin drapes for Mrs. Capt this morning.
