Diver,
Did a little checking.
Under the Code of Federal Regulations.
Title 36, Parks, Forests & Public Property
Part 2 - Resource Protection, Public Use & Recreation
Sect 2.1 # 7
They are prohibited in Federal Parks.
I was going to look into getting one myself to take to the beach. Glad you brought it up.
