In 1984 my 2 sons and I were fishing the Rodanthe pier on Thanksgiving day, it was a special time with them, one I never had again.
The schools of blues that passed by the end of the pier were so thick if one jumped into the water they could literally walk on fish.
All in the 20 lb range.
I left when they arrived for the crazy folk who were catching went into a frenzy themselves.
Silver Hopkins filled the air and few looked back before casting.
It was a sight I never saw before and haven't since.
