I have also found out that they love the edge of the currents Lightnin' and it totally depends on if the Rock Fish are up at the boat ramp. They are being caught off the shore in Williamston and Scottland Neck but they are not in great numbers as of yet. You can follow the Rock Fish run buy google'ing (Weldon, North Carolina Fishing 2009) This is a great report posted by the biologist who does the shocking of the waters sampling which fish are there. It also host some of the fishing reports samples from some of the tackle shops and their owners. Wild eye Shad bait also works great but keep in in the current edges and you have to watch out for rocks and obstructions. I have lost some good artificials fishing for rock fish. Fresh shad is also sold at the tackle shop in Weldon in site of the Weldon boat ramp but you have to get there early to get fresh live bait for the shop sells out of this bait quickly.
