Favorite/Best OBX Pier?

Know it's subjective, but how about some opinions as to the Pier where you've had the best luck/ or best time-I know they may not be the same thing. Had to postpone August trip until 3rd week of September, what and where to expect fish in the surf, sound and piers at that time of year? I know I've heard oldtimers say fishing heats up after Labor Day, but it's the latest we've ever been down. Any recommendations are appreciated, thanks!
