Jen ,

Here's a link from my blog : http://www.somefishblog.com/p/getting-started.html

And here's another blog I maintain , that is mostly for beginners : http://somethingsfishy-jm2.blogspot.com/

I'm not sure what's going on where right now , but one of the local tackle shops should be able to point your hubby in the right direction. The point is always a good place , but crowded and many beginners don't feel comfortable jumping in and fishing in the crowd. Another option is the south side of Oregon Inlet , if it's open. He'll really need to be careful of closures and other regs.

From all reports I've seen , small red drum are thick this year and can be found just about everywhere. A simple two hook bottom rig and some shrimp or cut bait will catch a few of those.

Hope you guys catch a bunch!
