Do yourself a favor and you will have more fun and save a few dollars. Any quality medium to medium light 6 to 6 1/2 foot spinning rod and reel spooled with 10 lb test will work. You can cast farther and it is big enough to land anything you will catch at the little bridge. I fish the sounds all the time and use 6 foot medium light poles with 8 1b test. You can actually feel the fish pull and hear the drag scream a little bit with a 20 inch trout or 18 inch flounder. It will also handle the occasional puppy drup or striper you will catch. I just landed a 20 pound blue cat on one of these poles on a striper lure on the Potomac last weekend. Took me about 10 minutes to real him in. Light tackle fishing is awesome!
