"Visitors" are no better this year insofar as being oblivious or just plain not caring.
Rodanthe several weeks ago. Early, beach empty. Woman comes down w/ chair and umbrella and starts to wander up and down the beach. Asked her if she lost something. "No" she said..."I'm just looking for a good spot." And w/ that she plops down 8 ft away. Now the "whole" beach was empty 250 feet in each direction. Then she asks how high the water comes. All was lost at that point!!
Several other days, 1 parent and 5 kids (young teens) come down about 0730 hrs. Again beach empty for 250 ft south or north. Water moving north. W/i 3 minutes most of the kids are into line. Parent waves them back south 1 time. After that, just happened over and over again, w/ no action by the parent.
As for walkers...best be tendin line as most will just walk into line. And they'll do it goin and comin back too!!
Most dogs were leashed, (not on 6 ft of course). Some w/ and w/o leashes let their dogs into bait and onto your person. Most feces were picked up.
Pretty good this year about cleanin up and not leavin bottles and cans.
Snakes on soundside and ditches on 12, normal amount, and couple of gator reports.
Have a safe trip, and fun w/ the grandkids.
