You need to cast right behind the outer bar with that kind of beach structure.

August and September could be a lot of spot migrating south and they don't mind shallow water, a wind blowing from a northern direction would be best for them. Also the finger mullet might start their run in that area the middle to end of August, good bait to use for bluefish.

The big sea mullet and pompano could be up close eating sand fleas. I'd try to find the best wave run back with the biggest colony of sand fleas next time. Try sand fleas and bloodworms on a pompano rig from the tackle shops.
