The speckled trout fishing is better, usually around the end of October and beginning of November is prime time for Kitty Hawk, Kill Devil Hills and Nags Head areas. You can catch them earlier and later during those months even into December.

That's for the big ones in the surf and it's a sight to see them rolling on the surface with schools of minnows jumping in the air on the calm days all along the beach.
