I had a sick episode on a cruise ship one time. We were in a storm and I could see the phone cord moving in an arc around 3 feet wide. I think I would have been OK higher up on the ship where I could see the horizon. Seeing something moving , like the rods or the gunwhales always makes it worse.

I never really get seasick other than the one time mentioned above. A problem I have had though , is something sorta like vertigo (I guess). If I come off of a boat and head to the shower , sometimes I'll start swaying ,if I close my eyes , and get a little dizzy. Sea legs , I guess , but it makes me stagger like a drunk if I'm on the water for a long time and then hit dry land.
