I signed it , just for the heck of it. Can't hurt , but what we really need is a group or organization that EVERYONE is a member of or supports. The old saying "Divide and Conquer" has sadly worked to the other side's advantage.

I think it would also be a big help if more watermen got involved in a PUBLIC setting. They don't like to admit it , but it hurts them too when people scale back their trips to the OBX - either directly or indirectly. All of the businesses should be involved too , but I know some are wary of associating with the pro access groups.

I think we need a good leader who stays legal and doesn't raise a big fuss. Times in the past where people have flaunted their defiance of the rules and/or raised a lot of hell have only served to make us look bad. Somebody ran over a big sea turtle while I was down last year for crying out loud and I'm sure the enviros would like to make him the poster boy of ORV access. Stuff like that and people trying to find loopholes or otherwise work around the closures just gives them ammunition to use against us. Most fishermen are stewards of the resource and should be considered part of the solution , rather than the problem.
