The enviromental groups are trying to turn it into another Pea Island, wait and see what happens in another 20-30 years. Looks like on the north end of Hatteras Island your getting about 1 1/2 miles at Oregon Inlet, 2 1/2 at Ramp 27, 2 1/2 at Ramp 30, 1 1/2 at Ramp 38 and that is it. Ramp 38 has the softest sand of all the ramps. Ramp 27 and 30 get very deep ruts during the summer.
I thought it was better to try to get around this than not go at all.
Just my opinion on the fishing, if you have to take whatever spot is available your probably not going to catch much and would be better off walking over like at the lighthouse jetties or Frisco Pier for example.
The birds like to be around people for protection, wrens are a good example. I hope the park service is able to figure that out one day.
Pushing people into small areas will make user conflict worse, will be more people fighting with each other giving the place a bad vibe.
The seashore’s off-road vehicle rule is now final
