The big spot are easier to clean. I like to make fish chips out of the small spot. Fillet leaving the skin attached at the tail, go back under the skin from the tail to cut the skin off and then cut the rib cage off. A very thin blade steak knife like a wooden handle one from the dollar store works better on smaller spot than a regular fillet knife.

It's probably not going to be fishable from the beach until this weekend because of the waves. You might be able to fish from a pier and maybe north of Corolla at low tide for spot. I think a wind and current coming from the north is going to be best next week. The fish could just show up anytime for no reason.
