North Of Oregon Inlet

It's back to normal on the beach side, I don't know about staying on the sound side. Most of the damage north of Oregon Inlet was from sound side flooding like on Bay Drive in Kill Devil Hills, Colington, Duck, Manteo, Wanchese, might be everywhere along the sound.
In Kitty Hawk the wind started off strong directly from the east but the overwash wasn't bad from it. No storm surge or waves in this area like Isabel which the ocean looked like a big wave choppy washing machine full of lumber with the water high up on the horizon, right after Irene the ocean looked like nothing had happend.
What made the sound side flooding so bad was a lot of strong wind directly from the west after Irene moved by into Virginia and that went on for a long time and the local news said the hurricane did stall for awhile over the Pamlico Sound.
