Suggest start w/ squid, shrimp and cut bait. Fresh always much better than frozen. Sometimes you have to take what you can get. Blood worms, live or artificial, are also an option.

In the "free" category are sand fleas and cut bait from your own catch.

Keep bait on line fresh.

Fish early as possible. Swimmers will dictate when you have to stop.... and last 2-3 hours before dark. Assume you're there for a week, so don't go nuts over tides or wind direction. Get out there as often as possible.
