Glad you had a good time and caught fish. Those big red Drum are beautifull aren't they?
Don't know about the reclemation affecting fishing.
I flip the skate over on it's back, step on it and use pliers to remover the hook. Might not be the most humane way, but I am unsure as to the damage they can do with that barb, but I keep remembering what that ray did to that tv personality from Australia, so I err on the side of caution.
