Just curious what do you guys think is the best setup for fishing in the SURF of a PIER for Puppy Drum and what do you think is the best bait(Mullet,Sand flea,Spot,Shrimp). And what style of weight should I use?
I've seen guys use fish finder rigs mostly but I've also seen alot of guys make thier own bottom rig out of flurcarbon. If you use a fish finder rig, what pound leadar do you use? And if you prefer to make your own rig out of flrcarborn then what pound line do you use and do you put one or two hooks for Puppy Drum? And when you make your rig do you use surgeon loops or a drooper loops? Any tips would be appreciated. I hope the NorthEast winds help me catch one! Also should I be trowing my bait in the white wash or in the deep hole?
I personally have been using a fishfindar rig with 30lb mono and use a 6/O hook with shrimp or cut spot. I'm thinking about switching my leadar to 30lb Flurcarbon. Also as long casting distance is not required I sometimes put the slider directly onto the leadar(kind of like a cannonball rig).
