The spot run varies..it can be from now (mid-Sept) for the next month. It depends on water temperatures and the spot's southern migration from the Chesapeake Bay. Some years are better than others..just like any other fishing. You can tell when they are biting, just look at the northside of any pier and it will be shoulder-to-shoulder. A northeasterly wind helps. Just observe good "pier ettiquette" and you can fill a cooler in no time. May have to wait at the cleaning station, though.
