It's probably a good week to pick, the leaves should be turning in the swamps on the way in for a bonus and a sign that the weather is right. The big speckled trout fishing can be really good north of Oregon Inlet the first week of November. The drum fishing can be good too, I think it was when the records were caught further south in Rodanthe and Avon. The beach on the north sides of the piers are popular areas, look for a washed out spot on the beach there for the hole. Sometimes the big speckled trout can be rolling at the surface on silversides and peanut size menhaden in the surf all along the beach everywhere and it's a sight to see if your lucky. The calm water days after northeast blows are the best because it doesn't scatter the baitfish if there's no nets out in the area, they set them from the beach when the ocean is calm. Try to get on the north side if you see them.
