I've been fishing the Avalon Pier area in Kill Devil Hills and the Avalon Pier fishing report is usually also what's been happening in the surf.

I'm sure there will be some speckled trout at Oregon Inlet, for bottom fishing you'll catch more using small pieces of fresh cut bait. If your going to be throwing jigs on your trout rod the natural minnow looking color, white and chartreuse green colors have been good. For Mirrolures try the 808, gold with a black back and orange belly.

You might want to check out the area north of Ramp 4 at Oregon Inlet. Also the good trout holes have a tendency to form just north of the piers and you might want to check those areas. If your going to Buxton you might want to stop by the jetties where the lighthouse was at, could be something happening there.
