Wednesday the wind kicked up a bit. Too much swell for the yak so I was shore bound. Had a steady pick of small pompano up tight to the beach. Finally landed a small drum.

Thursday…. Dead calm in the morning so I broke out the yak. Picked up my trolling speed and scored a needlefish. Then got into the Spanish. Got towed around by a nice 24 incher then got into some smaller ones. Went back out tonight and there was just too much swell. My spoon kept popping out of the water and didn’t have a trolling sinker on me. As I turned to come back, a big fish jumped out of the water right next to me but I didn’t get a good look at it. Guy surf fishing saw the whole thing said the fish was in the 30-36” range. Scared the crap outta me. Went back to the house and swapped the yak for surf gear. Got some shrimp in the suds and immediately saw breaking fish in the waves. Ran up and grabbed my spoon rod but couldn’t get any takers.
