left on tuesday, forgot my laptop. so starting tuesday, rain most of way down. traffic not bad. storm had mostly cleared out. nags nead ,kill devil hills area, heavy traffic, people driving like nuts. lines everywhere for food, ice cream coffee, you name it. not my cup of tea. first time i've been down this late. usually 1st. of may then oct. now i know what King said about being careful about traffic and why he bought another place.
went on down to Avon. much better. ocean angry and winds up to 30mph. so we checked out ramps 25 thru 38. they have done a good job fixing ramps entrances. don't mind paying beach driving permit it they use money to fix up ramps. weather was great, 70's to low 80's no humidity.
so we rode around and looked at stuff and had a good time. wind still blowing and angry ocean. finally friday wind quit and beautiful day. went out on ramp 32 early am. 4 oz. would not hold, but ocean had calmed down. hardly nobody on ramp. had some blood worms, so took off bottom rig. i put on a 4 oz. barrel sinker above a swivel, then small hook on 16 inch leader. cast out and would drift slowly, so i baited up with blood worm. first cast a 12 inch kingfish. so i fished until 10 am, caught 6 kingfish 12-16 inches. came back early evening and caught 8 more nice kingfish before dark. got some nice fillets. i know Capt.D was down but with no laptop did not know how to contact him.
all in all it was nice to get back down to banks. had a good time.
only thing might want to take out a small loan before you go down. super gas $3.59 to $3.79. 2 pulled pork sandwiches with a order of onion rings = $26.00. all campgrounds full and all rentals gone, no vacancy. they say because of virus people are having a hard time, you would never know it at the banks. never did get my seafood dinner, lines to long. left sat. morning 7am. the bridge coming in already almost bumper to bumper.
be safe.
