I was trying to get the morning fog on the pond, you got to climb over the fence that has a hot wire then barb wire with blackberry bushes.
This is a female heifer field, the bulls are together on the other side of the road only have to watch out and run if all start a stampede.
The guy has over 200 cows and owns all the land along the river plus rental houses, buys the cows at 200 pounds and sells them at 700 pounds.
The pond was great with a nice balance of mixed size largemouth bass and big bluegills. I had fun with them on beetle spins and roostertails.
I caught some big bass and bluegills and saw even bigger fish. I saw a 10 pound bass and a black swimming log as big as my leg maybe a bowfin.
The guy across the road said the neighbor's son had made a tank and would go fishing all over NC and VA and would bring back fish for the pond.
He said he had put fish in it that looks like an eel and I think it's bowfin. I threw a minnow lure in front of one near the surface and no luck.
I'm sure it's got some surprises in it. I only saw one snake that looked like a northern water snake, some turtles and frogs not many mosquitoes.
A blue heron, assortment of usual birds with a lot of barn swallows. I checked out the small creek below the dam but didn't go down to the river.
Looked like it had some bass fingerlings in it from the pond could be little trout, I was looking to see what else.
There is a can go out and find them emerald mine kind of nearby near the town .....

Anyway no firework booms only have lightning bugs at night going off everywhere. The neighbors have some barky dogs and a rooster, it's far away.
