To get your wife and kids "Hooked" they need to have some action to keep their interest. I would for sure stay with the simple high / low rigs and just toss them right on the other side of where the waves are breaking on the beach. Hopefully you'll be able to catch some croaker, mullet and maybe spot in close and they'll have some fun with it. For sure grab some Fake Bloodworms (Fish Bites) for bait as well as some squid. They both stay on the hooks and aren't that messy. I would also recommend using Circle Hooks especially for the kids. That way you can just throw the bait out and watch the rod in the sand spike. The fish hook themselves on the circle hooks and then the kids can just reel them in. They don't have to stand there and wait for a hit and set the hook. They can do that when they get really old and cranky! Many years from now! Good luck and hopefully everyone will have some fun.
