The ocean has been kind of calm, I'd target bluefish during early morning and late afternoon or fish any pier close to the pilings during mid-day.
When the ocean is calm it is hard to see the bars and holes, you would have to look for the bird activity also try to find a big sand flea colony.
If it's slow going you might want to try the Winks Wreck in Kitty Hawk that's at Luke Street below the surface at the empty area between the houses.
A double fireball rig with fresh cut bait will work for bluefish for lures a real looking metal minnow, white bucktail or a white grub jig for variety.
Walking the beach throwing a MirrOlure when it is calm can be interesting, you do not have to throw it far just work around the drop off at the beach.
There is a nice parking lot area sound side off the very north end of the main sound road Bay Drive might be some trout and good for some blue crabs.
It's been cool during the morning and hot in the afternoon with some thunderstorms, traffic is horrible and will get a lot worst when schools let out.
High Cotton for BBQ and Spankys, for fine dining Black Pelican in KH and to avoid waiting Mako's in KDH, for breakfast try Henry's but avoid Saturdays.
