You might catch something in the sound around Oregon Inlet or from the little bridge on the Nags Head causeway. For the surf I'd try on or around the outer bar where the waves first break. A lot of big and small size sand fleas have been out on the bar in Kitty Hawk. There's been some birds diving on the other side but seems to be just bait. I threw right in the middle of some with a glass minnow and didn't get anything. You never know this time of year it can be big blues.
