Hey Bud .... I picked up and Avet mx 5.8 and just for fun grabbed a Heavy Heaver 13ft rod ... I took it out to the football field to learn how to throw it ... when I hit the surf I can get it out there pretty good ... no where near some of those guys but it's fun . The reel itself has a pretty fool proof magnetic spool so the dreaded birds nests don't arise all that often . Reeling in is a breeze too . I'm sure on a shorter pole it would be a ton of fun for flickin metal or poppers . Let us know what ya pick up .
