Yup, you're pretty much in line w/ feelings of most here.

For this Capt and crew, summer will be 37th year in a row visiting.

Started in Duck, moved to Whalehead, (just south of Corolla) before finally headin to HI to avoid the commercialization that raped the land.

Development ruined all from Duck north. Big bucks were made sellin off property to include Audibon society who moved sanctuary from OF to west side of 12 for the building of the original McMansions. (Tom Cruise one of the 1st to buy there.)

Renters now have no idea what beauty the northern beaches were 30 - 40 years ago. But, given todays society perhaps they'd not be happy w/ way it was...few cottages, no phones, no TV's etc. Cottages and vehicles unlocked, respect of property, etc.

Drove to north end of 12 3 years ago and we all had tears in our eyes.

Good thing we have our memories eh??
