Seems to depend on the water temperature where you go. You could bring a few pull traps and not use a net.

I think I had to use a thicker line but this below worked fine, wade out and drop it off then wait awhile and yank close fast and drag in quick.

If I remember right it worked a lot better than the square pull traps like it for dragging back in along the bottom.

I know the reviews are bad but does work good that way, I'd get the biggest size.
