I use 15# and only broke my line once because my drag was too tight. But that or 20# are OK. As far as tackle shops, the main one is TW's and they have everything. However, there is a new one in Nags Head called Fishin Fever. It's family owned and they're trying to make a go of it. It's small for now but they have the essentials you need. Great people to deal with so I try to patronize them. Good luck!
