I don't either. The beach road should be moved this was the plan a long time ago, I hate to see it go.
To me Kitty Hawk is the most pretty stretch of that road out of all it and Southern Shores, it's like going back to the 1950s.
A storm won't cut an inlet all the way through Kitty Hawk because of the ridge on the west side of the bypass but could cause a big wash out.
You need a continuous dune line or even better a double dune line to stop the flooding.
That has to have sea oats their roots are like glue in it, nothing will do any good during a long lasting storm.
The ocean is mostly coming through under the oceanfront houses during the usual storms, the beach pushes in front of them are not lasting.
Anyway my whole gripe with this is more of a point, people shouldn't have to pay for other people that gambled with their money.
They are going to sell and move on after it's done like the ones in Nags Head and the next bunch will expect beach nourishment.
Also more and more tourists are coming every year and an eroded beach hasn't and isn't going to stop them.
