Wish was as simple as bad or compacted soil or badly drainin pot.
Tomatos, zucchini and pepper plant from daughter-in-law...a green thumber...are nearing 5ft. Same soil, in pots, deck location and drainage. No bugs.
There are also about 18 flower types, and herbs, in pots on deck incl. 2 Tamaya begonias, Bougainvillea, and Mandevallia, that are doin well but have to be brought inside before frost. (Have bout 10 Tamaya cuttings heavily rooted ready for potting and giveaway.)
Finally got deck fountain cleaned and runnin. Mrs. Capt smilin.
Called male neighbors for "Donuts on the Deck" 0900 hrs. on Thurs. Try to do 1 summer, 1 winter (inside). The old men will come over eat donuts, that their wives won't let them have otherwise, and tell untruths, 1/2 truths, and argue about just a bout anything. None are fisherman. (Legal Post!!:):) Be loud gathering, as most are hard of hearing and compensate by loud speech.
3 big jobs left for summer: removing outside brass coach lights and painting (w/o getting pacemaker juiced), painting corbels holding up garage roof front overhang, and painting cedar trim in and out sides of front porch.
Probably no fall trip down, instead plannin trip to TN to visit nutty sister (and her poor hubby) in early fall. Will prep all clambake ingredients and take them, as did last trip...along w/ baker, stove, gas etc. DIY bakes were dads favorite...be following his recipe and notes...as always. He'll be smiling from above for sure.
And as for "nutty sister"...thinks she's descended from American Indians. (Believes in omens, shape shifters etc.) My history books never described American Indians in Europe. Swear her problems all started at age 8 w/ ballet classes. Ever been to a ballet recital?? If you ever get roped in to one take a pencil so you can poke your eyes out before it starts:):)
If we could get back to fishin, would not be postin this stuff!
