The sweet gum if that's what your talking about is my favorite for a fire on the beach when it's cold. It puts out a blue flame and gets so hot you can't get real close to the fire. You have to keep moving your beach chair back away from the heat as it gets going. If you let the wood age you can split it with an axe.
