We heat mostly with wood. Use about 1/2 - 3/4 tank of oil a year.
Some of the locust are around 75-100 feet tall. Problem with Locust, you should split right after cutting. It twists pretty quick, no hand splitting with it. I do have a gas powered splitter. But you can burn Locust soon after splitting. No sap.
The Black Walnut is more of a problem with the nuts than anything.
I have one that I want to get a price for. It's at least 3 foot in diameter.
